Setting Resolutions for the New Year

Saturday, January 07, 2012
Have you broken your resolutions already? Don’t panic! Take a step back and look at the big picture. Stop focusing on setting New Year’s resolutions because it’s a new year. Setting goals should be an integral part of your life, not something you jot down on January 1st. However, I will say that I love to review my life plans in January. I feel like my mind is more clear after the holiday season. It feels like a calm time to reflect and review my long-term vision and objectives.

Instead of overwhelming yourself with unrealistic goals, set attainable ones. For instance, don’t set a goal that you will workout 7 days a week when you know that realistically, you will only be able to workout 4 days a week. At the same time, don't sell yourself short, by not committing to any exercise activity at all. Start from the top and think about your overall vision and go from there. You will feel much better and be on your way to creating a path to achieve your goals, whatever they are!
